  • Hi Jolon,

Firstly I'd like to say Thank you! You have made a beautiful app in "River Bible". I just love its simplicity and ease of use.

One thing however... Just wondering if its at all possible to import another version of the bible? I have a NKJV file I'd love to import into the app. Its in .xmm format. Is there anyway to import it? Can I possibly reformat the file into a format River Bible recognizes and copy it into one of River Bible's folders?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer. And once again thanks for a marvelous app!

    Blessings,

    Jodee
  • Just another thought Jolon, I also have another NKJV file in .bbl and .bblx file format, that I purchased for e-sword. This format was installed into the e-sword directory using a .exe file. I still have the .exe file but I know that it won't be compatible with my mac. But looking at the e-sword program directory I couldn't help but notice the nkjv.bbl and nkjv.bblx files that the exe added. Hopefully there will be some way to import one of these formats or the previously mentioned .xmm format into River Bible?

    Looking forward to your reply,

    Jodee
  • Hi Jodee,

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you, I just arrived back from a missions trip to India.

River Bible currently doesn't support importing .xmm or .bbl file format. However I will have a look into it and see whether it is feasible.

Thanks for the suggestion and the kind comments.

    God bless,

    Jolon.
  • Missions to India! Awesome!!! What part of India did you outreach to? I have been on four missions trips to India so far to the city of Hyderabad and the surrounding areas within the state of Andra Pradesh. We went to a few remote areas out of a town known as Kamareddy (not sure if the spelling is quite right) it was truly amazing to watch the hand of God moving amongst the people, so many outstanding miracles of healing including the deaf receiving their hearing again, the lame being healed, cancers being healed and many many stomach complaints being healed (too much curry I think hehehehe) And the best part is always witnessing the hundreds of decisions for Christ. The organization we partnered with is known as "International Outreach" its main centre is found in the suburb of Gatchibowli (again not sure of the spelling) The Church behind the organization is known as "The Kings Temple Church" pastored by Pastor Raj Kumar. Really amazing people. What part of India did you outreach to Jolon?
  • Hi Jodee,

We went to Madurai which is in the state of Tamil Nadu (south-east India).

Really beautiful location and beautiful people.

Madurai is known as the temple city and many Hindus visit the temples there.

The church I go to in Australia (Surf City Christian Church - it's on the beach :) has been affiliated with Pastor Rajamani for over 20 years. Pastor Rajamani was the head of the Assemblies of God in India, but now is head of missions.

We have two orphanages that we have built near Madurai which we visited. One is just finishing construction and the other one is already completed and doing really well.

We spent 18 days in Madurai, 15 days of ministry. We had 25 team members from our church and we split into 2 teams. Each team visited 5 villages each, spending 3 days in each village.

We would go into the village in the morning and walk around greeting people, praying for people and their homes, and also sharing the gospel, as well as letting them know about the night meeting.

At night we would hold an open air meeting and sing songs, do some dramas, give testimonies, and preach the gospel. Afterwards we would pray for the people.

We also saw some great miracles of blind seeing, paralysed being able to move, infections healing.

I also went in 2010. This time we went out to villages that were further than we had been to before. It's possible that no westerners ever go to these villages. It was a great experience. The best part for me though was the people, especially the children.

I've had a look into the .xmm file format. It looks like it will be relatively simple to import. There are just some considerations as to how to support allowing users to import files. I will keep looking into it.

    Bless you,

    Jolon.
  • Thats great Jolon no doubt you have a hundred testimonies to share of all the great things the Lord did through you all in India. Great also to hear that you have a couple of Orphanages up and running. It all sounds very similar to the work done by International Outreach, on the 4 trips I've been on we planted a Church each time in different provincial areas. So exciting to so the Kingdom of God expanding in India and to see so many lives blessed because of it.

On the River Bible topic, I think the simplest method would be simply dragging and dropping a bible file into one of River Bibles directories, then the next time you open River Bible it would hopefully discover the new translation. Although that would perhaps be the simplest it may not be user friendly for some. Perhaps an item in "Import" item in one of the menus that opens River Bibles "bibles" folder with some sort of pop-up instructions to drag and drop a bible file of the specified formats into it?

I wish I could help you more with implementing it, but I have quite limited programming skills
